Sheng-Jung,Tsai is a designer from Taoyuan, Taiwan. Content, context, and conversation drives and defines Sheng-Jung’s design practice. His work occupied a space between practice-based research, creative exploring and printed matters; underpinned by a multi-disciplinary training from the design course at Goldsmiths University and appreciation of his multi-cultural background. His practice aimed to scrutinize the limited future and to expand and translate it into our daily circumstances. By interrogating the constraint of his practice,he looks into deconstructing and re-appropriating the existing material to curate a more diverse working method and create a more culturally informed work. Sheng-Jung’s physical design practice predominantly focuses on kinectic mechenism structures and various printing techniques.
His interests fit into a various field in the design industry, from the establishment of a more eco-centric society by examining alternative materials to create a different making culture, to the physical printmaking that gain a sense of joyousness from the continuous experimentation with the interplay between layers of colour. Apart from those, he also likes to investigate the filed of critical and speculative design in the mind of OOO (object-oriented ontology), which he hopes to widen the unexplored future that equalises and bring harmony to the human species with other objects on this planet Earth.
